Choice Hotels have invested £300,000 in a revamp of their Lake District hotels heating systems. This revamp includes the installation of wood chip burning biomass boilers in both Keswick Country House Hotel, and Patterdale Hotel.
Director, Julian Kollard, has said the following: “Our Lake District Hotels are surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country, and this investment is part of the wider role we play in protecting our environment for guests to enjoy. As well as producing carbon neutral and renewable energy, these high-Tec systems are also cost effective, meaning that we can keep our prices low and provide better value for money.”
Switching to a wood pellet boiler can help reduce the release of C02 by up to 90%, and the annual cost is cheaper than any other heating sources such as heating oil, LPG and electricity. We have no doubt that Choice Hotels will be thrilled with their investment, and with their reduced carbon footprint.
